BSA in bid to raise P40,000 for national team

The BSA will host a fundraising and farewell dinner for the team in Gaborone tomorrow. Former BSA president, Andrew Mokoto, will be the guest speaker at the dinner.

BSA president, Marumo Morule said they have bought air tickets and secured money for accommodation. He said they look forward to raising between P35,000 and P40,000 at the dinner. He said the BSA selected a team in time and secured of the provisions required by the players.

The team is under the tutelage of Titeo Mangope. Botswana qualified for the championships by virtue of being Zone VI champions. Botswana has been paired against United States, Australia, China, Venezuela, New Zealand, Dominican Republic and Czech Republic in Group B. South Africa is the other African country taking part in the 16-nation competition.

Botswana failed to take part in the last two editions because of financial constraints. Botswana first took part in the championships in 1994.
