Police eye top spot in volleyball league

Second placed Police face Francistown based Diphatsa who are in fifth spot in a game that may ring changes at the top.The police side will look to overtake inactive BDF. The army side is top with ... points while Police are breathing down their necks with 31 points.

Diphatsa is fourth with 25 points having played nine games losing only once.

The Francistown side has an opportunity to climb to second if they win both their games this weekend.

Diphatsa vice coach, Driller Sibanda said they have not seen Police play this season but said they will take the game just like any other.

Sibanda said it is crucial that they win the game, as that will revive their hopes of winning the league title. He said they have been working hard in preparing for the game. 'If we do not win the league, we want to finish in second spot,' Sibanda said.

He expressed concern at the low spectator turnout at the games. Sibanda is also worried with the low level of competition from some teams and said this is to the detriment of volleyball. No comment could be obtained from the Police coach, as his phone rang unanswered.

In other men games, Spiking Stars will play Tanian, Kalavango face Diphatsa while Tanian will battle with Victory Seekers in their second game. Spiking Stars will take on Kalavango before the Police/Diphatsa clash. In the women's fixtures, Kalavango host Diphatsa, with Kalavango facing BDF VI while in the last game Spiking Stars play Kalavango.
