TAWU takes Limkokwing to court

Rukukya ordered that Joao Carlos Salbany and Mpho Malema from Salbany and Torto Attorneys appearing for the applicants, and Sipho Ziga of Armstrongs Attorneys, must argue on July 27 whether non-renewal of expired contracts amounts to retrenchments.

He said in the interim, consultations on retrenchments continue and any exit packages agreed on during the consultations shall be applied to employees in the event the applicants win the case.

He further said that heads of arguments be filed by July 16.

This was after Salbany revealed that the two lawyers had discussed the matter and reached an interim consent order that they wanted the judge to uphold.

Unconfirmed reports say over 60 employees of the institution whose contracts are coming to an end will not have them renewed.
