Choppies mall owners aware of parking lot misery

'We are aware of the potholes and the state of disrepair at the parking lot and have a renovation plan in the works  for the area. However as much as we would like to renovate, we are unable to do so as we have been informed that Zeerust road, which is currently under construction will pass through a section of the premises, including the parking lot.

It is only after the road boundary has been defined that we will be able to renovate. As a matter of fact, we plan to replace the tarmac with pavers.

We have already sourced quotations for the job,' said Peter Moshodi of Cash Bazaar Holdings.

Moshodi said currently there is not much his company can do other than fill the potholes with sand, as it would be untenable to fill the potholes with tar, or renovate.

'The sand tends to be blown away by wind and washed away by rain, but it is the best we can do under the circumstances. We will as soon as the situation allows for renovation start work,' he said.

Mmegi  posed questions to Moshodi following complaints by customers that the parking lot was full of potholes.

'The potholes in the parking area have caused problems for everyone, business operators and customers,' a business operator at the premises told Mmegi.
