BTU president Ramabya is buried

 

Ramabya died in a car accident in Gaborone near Mogoditshane. He was born in 1964 and joined BTU in 1988 when he started working as a teacher.

He was the chairperson of the Morakakgama region of BTU from 2005-2006 when he was elected Vice President of BTU, the position he held till 2010 when he became President of the union.  He was also a member of BTU benefit scheme, Botusafe, Pension Fund Investment where he was chairperson for all committees.

The unionist started his teaching career in primary schools, where he taught in different schools namely Solomon Dihutso in Mogoditshane, Mmonye Primary School in Mmankgodi, Bontleng Primary School and finally Mophane Primary School where he was teaching at the time of his death.

Ramabya did his primary education at Seingwaeng Primary School from 1973 to 1979 and went to Linchwe Secondary School for his secondary education.

He then did his senior secondary education at Itsoseng Private School from 1983 to 1984 before furthering his studies at Tlokweng Teachers Training College from 1986 to 1987 where he acquired his Primary Teachers Certificate. He later went on to study for a Diploma in Primary Education at Tlokweng College of Education from 2000 to 2001 and acquired a Diploma in Human Resources Management in 2009.  Ramabya was also one of the Township Rollers players in 1987. At the time of his passing he was playing for City Rollers, a social club that plays on Sundays.

He is survived by his daughter, mother, brother and four sisters.
