Shoshong constituency councillors pledge loyalty to BDP

In a press statement the BDP operatives indicate that they will remain in the party, highlighting that Makgalemele never consulted them before defecting to the BMD.

Expressing contempt at their MP's defection, the five signatories point out that he defected with the BDP seat without even consulting anybody. The press statement, written in Setswana, describes Makgalemele's defection as inconsiderate.

The concerned councillors are, B.D. Merementsi, M. Mphoyakgosi, G. Gokwalamang, G. Noke and B. Mogologolo. The constituency committee consists of C. Mogotsi, B. Tlale, O. Mobela, B. Mogologolo and B. Oki, who are chairperson, vice-chairperson, treasurer and additional members respectively, also signed the press release which emanated from a meeting held on July 17 in Shoshong.

Like their counterparts at Tsamaya recently, the BDP councillors and committee members who signed the press release assured the BDP leadership and general membership that they will not jump ship.

Further, they pledge to remain loyal to the party leadership but particularly its president, adding that they would become 'even more united than in the short space of time we have been with him.' They vow to ensure the constituency remains in the hands of the BDP.

Makgalemele was not available for comment at the time of going to press.
