Modubule to join BMD tomorrow?

Last year he made history when he became the first Independent Candidate to be elected to parliament.

At the well-attended consultation meeting yesterday Modubule informed his constituents that he had given up on the BNF, who he characterised as a party that is not serious as typified by the their legal battles even when they go into an elective congress.

'Bone ba busy ka bo-Boko'Modubule had applied to the BNF central committee for re-admission but there has been a lot of inactivity, much to the annoyance of Modubule who was once touted as a possible leader of the ailing party. In fact, Modubule told the meeting that he had engaged the BNF Central Committe for readmission as far back as 2008.

Modubule informed the meeting that he has been approached by other opposition parties such as the newly formed Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and the Botswana Congress Party (BCP). He said he would make a decision and announce it at a Press Conference tomorrow.

A considerable part of the audience at the Bothakga meeting said they were concerned at  the treatment that has been meted out to their MP and they said they were prepared to move with him wherever he goes. Another part of the audience called for patience and asked the MP to wait for the outcome of the BNF congress before he could make his political move.

It is widely expected that Modubule will throw his weight behind the BMD and possibly go on to become the leader of opposition in parliament.

Of late he has been making appearances at BMD public rallies.
