Elbow-benders to sample Peroni

Today, at the Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone, invited guests - including journalists - will sample Peroni as KBL prepares to introduce the beer as one of its premium brands.
'You will be given the opportunity to taste the world's Number One Italian beer, which is brewed from the finest spring barley malts and has a unique balanced taste, with a delicate aroma coming from the hops of the most exclusive varieties,' said Sesupo Wagamang, KBL's National Sales Manager in the letter of invitation.
Peroni is being introduced by KBL to plug the gap left by its former premier brand Amstel after the breweries' parent company SABMiller lost the rights to brewing the beer last April.
Amstel accounted for 6 percent of KBL beer sales countrywide.
SABMiller holds a 40 percent stake in KBL, which has been distributing Amstel in the Botswana market for over 30 years.
In May, Group Managing Director for Sechaba Breweries Holdings Lehlohonolo Matsela said they were only 'weeks away' from introducing Peroni to their thirsty market.
However, Peroni will not be completely new to Botswana as some independent distributors have had the beer for some time.
