Shot In The Arm For Namibian Infrastructure Projects

It will also fund the construction of a bonded warehouse of N$5 million at the Katwitwi border post near Rundu, and will pay for the installation of a hydraulic pump at the Aroab Village Council.

The DBN said it had approved 34 projects to the tune of N$123 million from April to June this year.

Part of a N$1,5-million performance guarantee to AJ Swartz Builders will go towards the renovation of the Mariental Hospital.Also included in the package is a performance guarantee of N$2,8 million to Decorative Property Development to renovate the Okahao District Hospital, as well as a loan of N$1,1 million to Kale Bricks & Construction to build a new primary health care clinic and staff accommodation at Epoko. Both projects are in the Omusati region.

The region clinched nearly 15 per cent of the DBN's N$123-million allocation. Other projects in the region include loan of N$10,6 million to SLS Crushers, based at Omukwa Uuwanga near Ruacana and supplying crusher dust, slurry dust, stones and concrete stones to businesses in the north.

SLS Crushers will use the DBN loan to start a brick-making division.

Five road projects got the DBN go-ahead. Of this, the biggest chunk of N$3,85 million went to Landsberg Drilling & Blasting to upgrade the main road from Okahao to Omakange. Okongo Investments and Alugodhi Trading received N$230, 000 and N$610, 000 respectively to construct box culvert structures and embankment protection works in the Oshakati district.

Sash Trading Enterprises got N$537, 000 to transport gravel to Oshakati, while Stucos Builders and Cement Suppliers received N$410, 000 to maintain a gravel road in the Otjiwarongo area.

Namibia Cleaning Chemical Solutions' loan of N$488, 562 will be used to build an access road at Uukwangula, as well as sewage treatment works.

Three other sewerage projects were also approved.

JMS Southern Investments will build sewerage reticulation networks at Tses, for which they received N$2,2 million, partly as a performance guarantee.

HPK Earthworks secured a tender from the Caprivi Regional Council for a sewer pump station and services infrastructure for which it secured N$941 275, also partly as a performance guarantee. Two projects will focus on bettering telecommunications in the country.

Network Energy Solutions received N$2,8 million for work on MTC's portico fibre metro ring, while Teleline Trading Enterprises secured N$973 475 to install overhead and underground cables for Telecom Namibia.

The bonded warehouse at Katwitwi will be constructed by SNA Trading Enterprises, that want to use it to export consumer goods and building materials to Angola.
