Designer Outfits Add Sparks to Zeus' Birthday Bash

The Showtime team arrived around 9 pm to find champagne freely flowing at the entrance of the magnificently decorated venue fit for a king's birthday celebrations.

The rapper's 24th birthday party, dubbed 'Zeus Celebrity Catwalk Party' started with local celebrities walking down the ramp modelling designer outfits from Man and Moda, Madame and Moda, and Mafia Soul Clothing Company.  Local radio and television presenters, among them Botswana Television (Btv) news anchor Brian Dioka, Tumie Ramsden of Yarona fm and Flava Dome presenters Mosa and Edgar, strutted the catwalk much to the delight of the crowd which included the who's and who's of the local entertainment industry.

The DJ kept revellers busy with some fantastic Hip-hop mixes while awaiting the birthday boy to come out. He finally made it onto the stage after midnight with a live band, which sang him a happy birthday song before he could grab the microphone.  The 'Imagination' hitmaker then had the revellers and well wishers eat out of his hand as he ditched song after song performing with his live band.

He started his performance with Gijima, the song whose video won him a coveted Channel O award last year, before taking the fans down memory lane with hits from his previous albums: Tlhokofatsa, back in the days and his first single, Imagination, which remains a hit wherever he bumps it.  He also performed champagne music, a hit from his latest album, the Flipside.

The revellers enjoyed the performances, as they could not help shaking their bodies until the wee hours of Saturday morning when the rapper left the stage.

From then popular DJ Mr O of the Tshaba Tshutshu fame took the turntables with bubbling house tunes to fade the night away.  Zeus thanked everyone who made his birthday a success, saying he enjoyed every moment of it.

He said the idea of including a fashion show by local celebrities added a whole new exciting spark to the event.  The rapper said he expects to keep growing and cementing his name among the best in the country and internationally, including in South Africa where he has since relocated.

He has received a lot of praise and recognition in the broad South African music industry, where he has carved a name on the hip-hop scene. Apart from his songs receiving massive airplay on many urban radio stations in South Africa, he has also performed in various TV shows, among them SABC 1's LIVE and etv's Saturday breakfast show Shizz Nizz.

Last month Zeus was on the cover of popular South Africa's hip-hop magazine HYPE. JC Le Roux organised the event in association with Firefox Communications, Fashion Lounge Botswana, Man and Moda, Madame and Moda and Fashion Lounge Botswana.
