BNF: The immediate tasks

Botswana National Front (BNF) observed then, that 'the section of the petty bourgeoise, which is in power is drawn from the bureaucratic elements - the genesis of the bureaucratic bourgeois, which is the high grade clerks and the rest of the upper middle-class.

As soon as these elements will be established in power, with active support of the imperialists, their lust for power will increase; their corruption and their dependence on neo-colonialism will increase.

'They will begin to indulge in luxury and opulence. It is obvious that they will tend to be very much less democratic than the classical colonial administration. The more the people will mobilize to regain their independence, the more these elements in power will seek direct support from foreign colonialists, the more they will call for military intervention in one way or another.

'The BNF should bear this in mind. It is precisely because these elements depend entirely on foreign imperialists that the BNF should never leave anything to chance or good luck or to the mercies of the Gods'.

All these predictions are now very real in our Botswana and the correctness of our political education has been vindicated. The relationship between imperialist diamond companies and BDP, and the funding of BDP by such imperialists can no longer be questioned.

The militarisation of the government from parliament to all departments of state and the complete control of parastatal organisations by the ruling Botswana Democratic Party is almost very much in place. Corruption amongst the ruling elite is now their virtue, while luxury in the midst of poverty of the populace is their glory.

What is to be done? The truth of the matter is that no one political party established to be in the opposition. We form, established and build our parties for political power, for governance and it is time that Botswana National Front must take over the governance of Botswana and empower Batswana.

The immediate tasks for BNF are, therefore;

*Live to the ideas of the formation of the organisation - Unite all opposition parties in Botswana from MELS through BPP), BCP to BNF and form a grand alliance of all Botswana's opposition parties with a view to challenging BDP and take over the government.

* Reinstate all expelled BNF cadres and members, who were expelled from 2001 to 2010, without any condition.

* Reinstate the 1985 BNF constitution, as formulated before the breaking away of BCP from BNF.

* Establish a reconciliation commission so that conciliation shall always come before disciplinary hearings.

* Reinstate political education at all levels; cells, wards, constituencies, regions and national for both the mother body, women's league and youth league.

*Reinstate freedom of expression known in BNF as criticism and self criticism.

*Reestablish relations with the socialist international and all other former liberation movements in Africa, Latin America and Asia.

We must also try by all means to win the confidence ad support of the working class and Unions, as well as those of the rural populace by reintroducing all the policies of BNF, on unions, youth, rural development and agriculture, health, industrialisation, education and others.

The combined opposition parties of Botswana re a great force and have very similar objectives and policies. They can together mobilise the electorates, win state power and together govern the country in the same way as the South African ANC, CPSA and COSATU managed to remove apartheid regime from power and are now jointly governing their country. The political monster in Botswana has now developed feet of clay and ready to collapse if only pushed by a joint force.

The time is now. Ke nako!
