Gumbo moves to Chiefs

Gumbo joined Rollers two seasons ago from a club in Malawi and guided them to the league and Coca-Cola Cup double last season.

Early this week, he was reported to be negotiating with Chiefs whose hopes of re-hiring Mike 'Dubula Dubula' Sithole to replace Wesley Mondo were dashed by Gaborone United. Gumbo has a good title-winning record and Rollers' fans had hoped that he would help them retain the crowns they lifted last year.

Meanwhile, Chiefs' communications manager, Clifford Mogomotsi said yesterday that they have heard reports of Gumbo joining the club but  that these are rumours.

He said the technical team they appointed to recruit a coach has not informed them about new developments. He said they will make an announcement as soon as they appoint a coach.

Rollers' managing director, Somerset Gobuiwang said they have heard reports about the departure of Gumbo who has missed training.

He said anything official would be published on the club website. Gumbo's contract with Rollers is said to be about to expire.

Comments by Rollers' supporters on the net suggest that they know that Gumbo is on his way to Chiefs.
