Premier League action resumes

Rollers closed the year with a 2-2 draw against another title contender, Mochudi Centre Chiefs. The draw ensured that the log leaders entered the New Year with a healthy seven-point lead at the top ahead of second placed Extension Gunners. Crucially for Rollers, Chiefs stayed eight points adrift although the Kgatleng side can reduce the gap to five if they win their game in hand.

This weekend, Rollers have a seemingly easy task when they take on Motlakase in Otse on Saturday.

Gunners, punching above their weight, would be tested against basement side, BMC in a Lobatse derby the same day. Chiefs would be on the road to Orapa where they play Boteti Young Fighters in what could be a tricky encounter. Rollers were in Orapa in their last match in the north and emerged 5-0 winners.

Defending champions, Gaborone United (GU), who are still mourning the death of their captain, Joseph Phetogo, play Police XI on Sunday. GU are slowly finding their footing after an indifferent start to the season. The champions have climbed to the fifth  spot and are favoured to collect the three points.

An exciting battle is in the offing in Molepolole where young sides, Uniao Flamengo Santos engage ECCO City Greens. Strugglers Notwane, who registered their first victory of the season when they beat Jwaneng Comets 1-0 in their last encounter, travel to Francistown to face another struggling side, TAFIC. The other weekend fixtures will see Nico play BDF XI in Selebi-Phikwe, while Comets and Killer Giants clash in a battle of debutants at the Galaxy on Saturday.
