Local demand for World Cup tickets high - Fani

Addressing journalists in Gaborone on Monday, BFA president David Fani said the association has been allocated a certain number of tickets for re-sale to local fans. However, fans can still buy tickets online or from authorised outlets in South Africa.

Fani said for the first round matches, the Round of 16, quarterfinals and the third and fourth place match, each FIFA member can purchase up to 250 tickets with a maximum of 20 tickets for any of the matches.

For the opening match, the two semi-finals and the final, each association can purchase up to 10 tickets. Fani said the tickets should be bought on or before February 11.

'BFA is proceeding to acquire these tickets as per the FIFA allocation arrangement. BFA will in turn sell the tickets to interested persons in Botswana,' Fani said.

He said the BFA has already received requests from some people and institutions expressing interest in acquiring World Cup tickets.

Fani said they have received requests, which might exceed allocation.'We will come up with a way of distributing the tickets, given that demand is higher than supply.'
