It is clear that presenting the show, which is one of the most watched television shows in the country is the dream of most youngsters so there was no surprise as scores of wannabes competed for the job, which was advertised on Botswana Television (TV).
Disappointment was written on the faces of many of the wannabes more especially those who were not yet auditioned by the time that Showbiz arrived at the scene. Realeboga Lemane of Gaborone North, together with her friends Motlamedi Ramadi and Wame Gaboitaolelwe, said that they arrived early in the morning hoping to be some of the first people to be interviewed.
'I have been here since 7:30 and I found the place in disarray as there was nobody here to direct us where to go,' said the youthful Lemane who added that she was consoled by the fact that she had the chance to meet some of her long lost friends. She further said that it was not the first time she had auditioned because when she was younger she auditioned for Mmantlwaneng.
Ramadi also echoed her friend's sentiments that the auditions were not well organised.'I came here very early in the morning, but even now, I do not know where I am supposed to go,' she complained adding that in the past she had attended audition,s but they were better-organised.
Their friend Gaboitaolelwe told this writer that she was on the verge of giving up as they were because she did not understand what was going on. Equally disappointed were Romeo Kabelo and Locco who said they feared that they would not make it to the interview. Both young men, who Showbiz found loitering around, said they were almost giving up hope.
On the other hand, those who had auditioned had a different story to tell. Precious Aletah was confident that she had done more than enough to impress the judges.
'Although I lacked confidence when I first appeared before the judges, they tried by all means to make me comfortable,' she said. Aletah was confident that she was going to be one of those people to be shortlisted for the job.
