Matsieng part ways with Eric Ramco

The group has already released their own funded album, Sa re nyedi sa re tseke, which began hitting the music shelves late last year, although sources say the group has had to re-record the album to correct certain things in the initial recording.

One of the leading vocalists in Matsieng, Roy Sesana, real name Kenalemang Roy Kgabuki, confirmed in an interview on Friday that they  are now on their own.

The separation comes at a time when one of the lead vocalists, Myras,  Mike Selabe is fighting charges of defilement at a Gaborone magistrate's court.  The lawyer representing Myras has since withdrawn from the case following a dispute over legal fees.

However the lead vocalists said the group is working very hard to raise funds for their fellow musician. ' The new album is  not doing badly. Several Chinese shops where we are dropping it, are buying the copies. We hope Batswana would support us so we are able to assist our fellow brethren,' Sesana said.

Their new album was recorded and produced by Bullet Ketshabile, the same producer who did Shumba's popular album, Makhirikhiri few years ago.

According to Sesana, the group is handling the distribution, marketing, and own bookings. ' Over the years with Eric Ramco we learnt how it is done. We have always had this idea of  being independent  in our minds. So we have been learning the business for some time', Sesana said.

He disclosed that in fact they recorded the album in September last year. Matsieng is made up of the likes of Tsankane, Myras, Cdo, and Sesana.  However Sesana has vowed that by the end of the year they will have their former frontman, Ditiro Leero back.

' I'm not sure if he is now back with Eric Ramco or not, but it is our plan that by the end of this year, Batswana should see a complete familiar Matsieng band with all the founding members,' he said.
