Man given eight months for malicious damage

English who destroyed prison property in a fit of rage last year appeared before senior magistrate Peggy Madandume yesterday. 'I have taken into consideration the fact that he is a first offender,' said Madandume.

Though the sentence was wholly suspended it is unlikely that it will make a difference for English, as he is a 'permanent' resident of the Centre for Illegal Immigrants as he has failed to prove that he is a born citizen of this country.  The controversial English has been residing at the centre since he cannot prove he is a Motswana and the woman whom he claims to be his mother has flatly denied the allegations.

English and the woman, Nomathemba English, have been in and out of court as he tries to prove that she is his mother while she tries to prove otherwise.

English has been unsuccessful in trying to set up a DNA test because he cannot afford it.  He did not seem shaken up or bothered by the just ended court case as he was laughing when the prison guard led him out of court. He has neither papers to prove that he is a Motswana nor papers tying him to any nationality.

He however insists that he is a Motswana, born to Nomathemba English a wife of the royal family in Kgari Village in the North East District.
