Woman stabs alleged rapist

He said the man had invited the 22-year-old woman of Kgaphamadi to his house in Area 'W' where he threatened her with a knife and raped her. After the alleged rape, the man is said to have fallen asleep allowing the woman to grab the knife from him. She stabbed him on the shoulder before escaping to the police station.

The man was later arrested and admitted at Nyangabgwe Hospital with a stab wound. He is expected to appear in court soon to face a rape charge.

Madisa said reports of rape cases after women have been invited to a house to visit a man are common in his beat. He appealed to women to be wary of strangers who invite them to their houses. He stated that there are some men who have no respect for women. He added that some men believe that women are sex objects.

He said most men do not accept being rejected by a woman during seduction and therefore resort to rape. 'Rape is a very serious offence, so one has to understand that when a woman says no, they really mean that,' said Madisa.
