Mma Mhlongo's relatives to do their own investigations

A close source of the family revealed that the relatives intend to go to South Africa to carry out their own investigations after noting that the police were not putting much effort in the matter. The source said that they are worried that time is running out. He said that people are still gathering at the couple's house every morning and evening to enquire what the latest developments could be.

The source further revealed that the relatives recently went to consult a traditional doctor who revealed that Mma Mhlongo is still alive somewhere in Mozambique. He would not give more details fearing to put police investigations in jeopardy.

Meanwhile, Police Spokesman senior superintendent Dipheko Motube said on Friday that they are still investigating the matter but there were no traces of Mma Mhlongo. He said that they were working with their South African counterparts to establish whether Mma Mhlongo crossed into Mozambique from South Africa. Motube said that he was not aware of the Mhlongo relatives' intentions to do their own investigations.

Mma Mhlongo went missing after trying to visit her husband in Mozambique who is reported to have left earlier. It is said that the couple agreed that the wife would follow the husband a few days later.

Getting an official comment from family members has been difficult since they are not ready to release information to the press.
