Tshelametsi appointed goalkeeper coach at Hotspurs

Hotspurs recently overhauled their committee and surprisingly appointed former national team goalkeeper, Kagiso Tshelametsi as goalkeeper coach. He will also serve as additional committee member. Although Hotspurs find themselves in mid-table, the club's public relations officer, Dindi Ranthoka said they have identified challenges hindering their progress. Ranthoka said the management met two weeks ago to identify problems that have been holding the team back. He told Mmegi Sport that the meeting concluded that divisions in the club have been hampering progress. They observed that the management is divided and this has filtered down to the team.

'Apparently some within management had divided the players and this made the coach's job difficult. It was difficult to discipline the players under such circumstances and maybe the team has been lucky not to relegate. But what is important now is not to point fingers because everybody has accepted their role in creating the crisis,' he said.

The team came close to missing a fixture after the December break because some players had not reported for camp. After the incident, the management decided to meet and map the way forward. 'A new committee with some new structures has been elected to guide the team. As a former player, I was chosen as PRO because I know a lot about the team and its history. Another former player Tshelametsi has been brought in as goalkeeper coach as well as an additional committee member and I believe we are on the right track,' Ranthoka said.

Hot Spurs have not given up on returning to the Premier League in the current season. A play-off berth is still a possibility provided the team starts picking points. Former BDF XI defender, Tintos Raditsebe is back to guide the youngsters and Ranthoka said his experience will be invaluable. 'We have very good players who can compete with the best but we  would not put ourselves under pressure. First we have to make sure that things are stable, from management right through to the supporters and then we can dream big in the next season,' he said.
