I loved 2009

For me it is a reminder that time is man's greatest enemy. It is a year closer to my death, so I really need to squeeze value out of every second each day. And have fun along the way.

The image of Botswana is still shining well, for me and my friends. Because we know very well that pessimism is an incurable disease, we always want to prevent it.  I know this guy with PhD, he says tertiary education has failed because of BDP policies.

So I am just wondering whose policies gave him that PhD, maybe he paid for it from his pocket.  It is funny what 'knowledge' can do to people's heads. Ask that ageing tyrant next door. I envy his PhD, maybe I should apply for scholarship. BDP will pay loads of money for my tertiary education, then I will take it for granted. How ? I will neglect my studies by smoking cigarettes and loads of beer daily, my lectures will become my phobias. Meanwhile, I will be failing every single exam put in front of me. Who cares ? The BDP government will pay for my re- sits. If they do not I will strike by vandalising property in my school, after getting drunk from my stipend I will march to Ministry of Education  to 'demand my birth right'.

Should they not listen to me then I will go to court, and win the case. After that I will go back to my old ways, and 15 years later I will still be battling with my 4 year course. Eventually I will give up without graduating, masogo one a kolopilwe ka madi. And then I will go around telling anyone who cares to listen that our education system has failed. How cool is that?

Editor, I play amateur football. I do not care about 'professional league'. So I love the constituency league because I still have to play, with my friends.

I do not have time to go for daily training, it makes me hungry. I do not even get a 50t energy drink after training. The 'professionals' love it though, life is all about choices anyway. But what is professional about players who do not make careers out of it ? Here in England there are thousands of soccer leagues, all week round. From the smallest five a side league up to premier league. Mine is called Combined Counties League, it is totally amateur. At first I thought its professional because it is so well run, we all do not have time for ambitious soccer careers. That is why we are amateurs. So the Constituency League should be left for us amateurs to play in, without getting hungry and tired daily of course.

In 2010, Batswana will look on the bright side of things, optimism ! Every ship faces a rough sea now and then, eventually it safely comes to shore.  Last year Botswana took another step to being a better place. If I suspect corruption of anything, I should bring hard facts and evidence onto the table.  .

Long live Botswana
