Andreattah's poetic album sampling today

It will be the first time that spoken word poetry enthusiasts get the feel of the talented poet's full album since she released the first single early this month to local radio stations and the internet.

The listening session, which will also afford journalists an opportunity to ask questions, comes as Andreattah prepares to drop the album to the local market on February 23.

She becomes the first local spoken word poet to try and release her works in audio form, and all eyes are on the country's leading poet to see if her works would go a long way in inspiring more poets to venture into recording. The evening programme starts at 7pm and is expected to go on until 9pm.Andreattah's album was produced by established producers such as rapper Tebogo Mr T Mapine, who also goes by the stage name Nomadic, as well as Berry Bone, Man-E and South African producer Mark Sunners. Featured artists on the album are Khwezi, Zeus, Samantha Mogwe, Bundu, Nomadic and Thato. According to the artist, the album comprises 12 tracks most of which are autobiographical.

The album is expected to get many talking, thanks to its neatly woven poetry and the melody that is sure to blow anyone's mind.

Listening to the first single of the album, In the House of Zion, Andreattah's silver vocals come out beautifully with deep poetry lines.

The melody, soulful and penetrating, with a touch of live band effects, is more than refreshing. It is one of those melodies one wishes they could press repeat. The jazzy lead guitar flows smoothly among some well-blended rhythmic guitar, drums and percussions, giving the soothing melody that jazzy R&B feel.
