Going tough for BMC, TAFIC

After a brief recovery, which saw BMC thrash Nico United 4-1, the Lobatse side plunged to an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at the hands of Mochudi Centre Chiefs on Saturday.

BMC remained tied on 11 points with TAFIC, who bring the rear to the 16-team log.

TAFIC held Gaborone United (GU) to a 1-1 draw on Sunday but this was not sufficient to move the Francistown team from the bottom.

Boteti Young Fighters, who only managed a 2-2 draw against BDF XI, occupy the relegation play-off spot.

Killer Giants are not safe after slumping to a 3-1 loss to title chasing Extension Gunners on Saturday.

Jwaneng Comets, who drew 1-1 with ECCO City Greens, are 12th  with 17 points. Notwane have watched their end of year form fizzle after going down 2-0 to Uniao Flamengo Santos on Sunday. Santos are still in the running for the title although they are 12 points adrift but Notwane are slowly sliding into the danger zone.

Motlakase underlined their growing reputation with a 1-0 win over Police XI in Selebi-Phikwe. The win moves the Palapye side into eighth place, and closer to achieving their target of a top eight finish in their maiden season.

It remained tight at the top as leaders, Township Rollers maintained their two-point lead over fierce rivals, Centre Chiefs.

Rollers beat struggling Nico United 2-1 in Selebi-Phikwe while Chiefs were ruthless against BMC on Saturday. The pace-setters have amassed 44points from 18 games.

Gunners' win ensured that Daniel 'Chicco' Nare's side remained third with 35 points.

In the race for the Green Boot Award, the top three goal-scorers were all on target. Leading marksman Terrence Mandaza scored Rollers' goal while Chiefs' Zambian striker Musonda Mweuka grabbed his team's second against BMC. Santos' Farisayi Nyamunamwendo fired home a brilliant shot against Notwane on Sunday. Mandaza now has 19 goals, three more than Musonda's. Nyamunamwendo has 13.
