Forensic report confirms Nchindo identity

Police spokesman senior superintendent Dipheko Motube yesterday revealed that the first portion of the investigation was to find the identity of the body.

'We can state that the remains found at the said spot on February11, were those of Mr Nchindo. Forensic analysis has positively identified the identity,' says Motube. However Motube would not be drawn into discussing the cause of death. 'Investigations are still continuing to determine what the cause of death was. That's what we are investigating now.'

Motube further revealed that Nchindo's body has already been released to the family. 'We released the body to the family once we concluded our investigations on it,' he added.

Meanwhile preparations for the burial of Nchindo are said to be at an advanced stage. In a statement released by the family yesterday a memorial service will be held tomorrow morning at Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross in Gaborone at 10 am.

Although the program is open to the public, the family precludes any taking of photos of the procession. 'The Nchindo family, in keeping with the nature of the occasion, is also requesting that no photographs (motions or still) be taken inside the church during the memorial service' indicates the statement. Nchindo's body was found in a forest on the outskirts of Kasane last week following reports that he was missing two days before. Following the death of Nchindo a week ago there have been various media reports alleging different causes of death. The major theory has been that Nchindo committed suicide, while another school of thought argues that he was assassinated.
