The pair joined the former Premiership side last August on a one-season loan. The curtain comes down on South Africa's National First Division on February 28 and that means the two will be free to come back to Chiefs or join another club. Chiefs' spokesperson, Clifford Mogomotsi has said that the two are likely to return to Chiefs when their loan spell ends.
'It was a one season loan deal that they signed and as soon as their spell finishes, I don't see the reason why they should stay in South Africa. They will have to come back and possibly play for us until the end of the season. We will then sit down with Bay United at the end of the season and discuss their future,' Mogomotsi told Mmegi Sport.
Speaking from his Port Elizabeth base, Moloi said he was hopeful the two sides will negotiate for an extension when the current deal expires. 'When I came here, the two clubs had agreed on a one season loan. But I doubt I'll come back to Botswana to play for Chiefs because I have done well for Bay, I am a regular and I am playing every game. Indications are that Bay will negotiate with Chiefs for an extension of my contract. I am enjoying myself here,' Moloi told Mmegi Sport.
Moloi and Maposa's return is expected to give Chiefs more impetus in the be MOBILE Premier League title race against leaders Township Rollers. But everything will depend on negotiations between Chiefs and Bay United. Umlilo are likely to extend Moloi's contract after his exploits at the club. Veteran Bay United midfielder Jimmy Zakazaka has hailed Moloi saying he had become a key member of the club and they need him for next season.
'Pontsho has done well ever since he came here. He is our playmaker and he makes things happen on the field. We definitely need his services next season,' he said. Zakazaka is confident that Bay United under Botswana coach David Bright will be playing top-flight football next season. Last weekend they shot to the top of the Coastal Stream log after beating Hannover Park 1-0.
They have to win their remaining two games to guarantee themselves a place in the promotional play-offs. Bright's charges will square up against Free State outfit Carara Kicks this Saturday before taking on KwaZulu-Natal's Thanda Royal Zulu on February 13.
Moloi is confident they will book a place in the promotional play-offs. 'We just have to work hard in the remaining two games because those are not easy games. But I believe we have a fairly balanced team that will take us to the play-offs and even beyond,' he said.
