Splash back at Lions Park

Some remember it as the best venue for the group to host its festivals as it provides a lot of space for revellers who often come in large numbers to watch the hugely supported South Africans.

Some still cannot forget that fateful night when a Ramotswa man was killed by the lions, which used to be kept nearby its fence. But despite this gory incident 'Manyora' kept flocking to the place en masse whenever Dan Tshanda and his groups performed there. Splash had simply become synonymous with Lions Park, especially to those fans residing in Gaborone and surrounding areas.

Last year the group shifted its Gaborone festival to Karibu Tena club near the Tlokweng border gate and clearly the fans did not seem to enjoy their night out as much as they would have at the spacious Lions Park with its cool breeze blowing from the nearby valley.

Another show was hosted at Duma fm compound near Phakalane and still the atmosphere was not as ecstatic as that of the Lions Park. Tshanda is excited to have secured the venue this time around and says he cannot wait to perform in front of his multitudes of fans at the venue. The first leg of their annual Botswana tour kicks off at Dam n Scam in Orapa tomorrow after which the 'Hit Machine' and his band would be heading farther north to Sowa Town where Tshanda said he hopes to host a memorable show.

'It will be our first time there and frankly I do not know what to expect. I do not even know the place but I just have a feeling that our fans will have a fantastic time there. For me it will be an opportunity to venture into new territory and perhaps establish a new market in that area,' he said.

On February 26 the disco musicians among them Don B (Donald Botshelo), Patricia Majalisa, Dalom Kids, Peacock, Slindile and Matshikos will return to the country for a show at the Selebi-Phikwe Town Hall. Then the 'mother of them all' will follow at the Lions Park on February 27.
