Stanbic Bank Takes Budget Breakdown To Francistown And Maun

The 2010/11 National Budget will be announced today by the Minister of finance and Development Planning, Kenneth Matambo.'Stanbic Bank believes in educating the public on matters of finance that impact their lives. We have noticed that a lot of people do not understand the budget speech, and are left in the dark as to how their lives, businesses and jobs are affected by the nation's budget.

'This is why we saw it fit to host these two events in Francistown and Maun, so as to increase the reach of the interpretation of the budget speech,' says Leina Gabaraane, Managing Director, Stanbic Bank. Martin Makgatlhe, the CEO of Motswedi Securities and Garry Juma, an analyst at the same company, will together give the main addresses of the two events.

'The first part of the presentation will look at the global economic developments and a re-cap of the 2009 budget speech. We want to investigate if the last year's budget theme was lived up-to or not,' says Makgatlhe.  'The second part will then focus on our expectations of the 2010 budget, and an analysis of some of the areas in the 2010 budget.  The analysis will measure these areas against our expectations. The discussions will also offer an opinion on what could have been done differently if there is any.' Craig Granville from PC Business Services/Meyer and Associates will then give an overview of proposed fiscal changes and their possible effect. Stanbic Bank is committed to empowering the community on matters of financial literacy.  This year the bank will roll-out a programme aimed at improving the youths' understanding of financial issues.
