GU, Santos Complete Strong Coke Line Up

First it was GU who went through after beating First Division North campaigners Great North Tigers (GNT) 5-0 in Otse and Santos joined them later that evening when they hammered Prisons XI 6-0 in Molepolole.

Both teams' games were postponed last weekend due to their involvement in CAF club assignments. GU and Santos now join other Premier League giants Township Rollers, Extension Gunners, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, TAFIC, ECCO City Greens and Mogoditshane Fighters, who are the only First Division team remaining in the competition.

The quarterfinal draw is expected to produce some mouth-watering fixtures.

For the GNT game, GU coach Manfred Chabinga made some significant changes to the team that held Orlando Pirates to a 0-0 draw in a CAF Champions League encounter last weekend. Bashin Modisaotsile made a rare start on the left and Bosarutweng 'Booster' Magola, returning from injury, started in central defence where he partnered captain Branco Molokwane.

Promising striker Wellington Maposa started upfront and he did not disappoint as he harvested a hat-trick. The other two goals were scored by on form Mandla Mgadla.

Maposa is among the leading goal-scorers after he netted five against Combination Stars in a round of 32 matches. Moyagoleele have scored 18 goals without conceding any in the current campaign.

Meanwhile, in Molepolole, the talismanic Ngele brothers, Godfrey and Mogakolodi 'Tsotso' were at it again as they helped their side butcher the warders.

Tsotso got his second hat-trick in the knockout competition to make sure the defending champions proceed to the next stage. The quarterfinal draw will be conducted later this week.
