Police nab armed robbery suspects

The Botswana Post vehicle was transporting the money from Palapye to Maunatlala, as payments for old age pensioners, when it was stopped at gunpoint by the suspects who then fled in a car after the robbery.

Two of the suspects were later arrested in the evening near Tumasera and over P356, 000, a handgun, and two cell phones were recovered from them. The third suspect was arrested in Palapye the following morning and was found in possession of a car suspected to be the one used in the robbery. The three suspects have been detained pending further police investigations.

In yet another incident, a 36-year-old man of Senyawe village was arrested after a robbery at Choppies Supermarket in Tlokweng on Saturday, in which over P133, 000 was stolen as employees prepared to close for the day's business.

The suspect and three others, who are still at large, entered the supermarket armed with a handgun and demanded money.

The police managed to arrest one suspect at the scene and over P6, 000 and a handgun were recovered from him. The police are still looking for the other three suspects.
