Motlakase stadium to be ready in March

Club chairperson, Mangisi Segadimo said they now expect the facility to be completed at the end of March. Initially, the club officials had said the stadium would be ready in February but there were delays because the contractor was engaged elsewhere. 'We are almost there. What is left is the laying of the top soil before the lawn is planted. The stadium should be ready by the end of the month (March),' Segadimo said.

He said the dressing rooms have not been constructed. However, he added that construction work to build the facility will start soon.  Motlakase are making their debut appearance in the Premier League and have been forced to play their home games away from Palapye due to the unavailability of a suitable stadium.

The club management has complained that playing away is hitting them hard financially. Reports from Motlakase indicate that the Premier League Committee (PLC) turned down the club's request to have the team play its away games first until the stadium is completed.

Segadimo said it was evident during Motlakase's Coca-Cola Cup last 32 match against BDF XI in Palapye that the fans were eager to watch their team play at home. Motlakase has won praise after it became the first club to build its own stadium.
