Botswana to play China in table tennis

The Chinese team will feature Chinese players resident in Botswana. The games were supposed to be played last weekend but the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) failed to secure a venue.

Eight Batswana and eight Chinese top players are expected to take part in both the men and women's competitions. BTTA president, Nathaniel Rakhudu said Batswana players and officials will learn a lot from the Chinese. He hopes that the relationship would lead to greater interaction in future.

Rakhudu explained that table tennis is a national sport in China and that besides learning techniques,  they hope the Chinese community in Botswana will help them with sponsorship. 'We are one of the codes that are really behind in terms of sponsorship and we hope they will help us,' Rakhudu said.
