Majalisa, By4, CJB, lead disco line-up for Gabane show

The disco music tour has already been to Jwaneng, Palapye, Francistown and Orapa, though most of their tours in the northern part of the country were disrupted by downpour.

Majalisa, who recently broke away from Dalom Music to sign with EMI of South Africa, is promoting her latest album, Epatini, which is already on the market here.

In the tour, she is accompanied by another disco music heavyweight, By4, a group founded by the late disco giant Penwell Kunene, who died last year.

The group has become one of the most sought after disco acts in Botswana and South Africa where they sell a lot of copies.

Another name that has been associated with Splash for many years, Thabile Mazolwane, who has since left the Dan Tshanda stable, will also be at the Gabane and Molapowabojang shows.  He too has a new album, No Man Requested, which is also available in stores across the country.

CJB, one of the disco giants of the '80s, is also joining in the fun. There is more fun for the fans of the late Kunene, one of the founders of the Splash group, as he will be honoured by his brother, Bafana, who will be singing most of the hits that the disco king had popularised.  Bafana is said to possess vocals that rival only his brother's.

Kunene's widow, Ivory Sikepe, is also on the tour, promoting her album, Vuma, a new entry on the market.Another familiar face in disco concerts, Brenda Fassie's long-time lover, Ludwe, will also be in the mix.  Ludwe has his own music and fans can expect to be thrilled by the highly-energetic performer who once acted as Brenda's manager.

The South African disco tour also has Tefo K, best remembered as Botswana's first disco recording act, when he did so in 1994.
