Botswana impresses at Zone VI Games

Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) Marketing and Communication Officer, Modiri Ontitile, who is at the games, said Thatayaone Mmolawa, with compatriot Collin Lepotokisi and Boitshwarelo Sefo got silver and bronze respectively. In long jump, Titose Chilume of Botswana won silver with Karabo Buzwane getting bronze.

Gobe Takobana won the second gold for Botswana by breaking the games' 2.12m high jump record after clearing 2.20m. Compatriot, Mmilili Dube got silver by jumping 2.10m. Botswana's third gold of the day was won by Kefilwe Galeitsiwe in the 5, 000m. By press time yesterday, Botswana had won eight medals.

The netball team was on course for a medal after convincingly winning all its four matches against Zambia (44-31), Namibia (49-31), Lesotho (73-4) and Swaziland (57-22).

In boxing, Marshal Mokgwaela beat South African Nyiko Ngukul in the 52kg with Robby Botshelo overcoming Swaziland boxer Lindani Maselo in the 64kg. Botshelo will fight in the semi-finals  today.
