Patient few enjoy Metal Orizon Maun show

While many fans who had gathered at Ruth Khama hall as early as 1900 hours eventually dispersed after three hours of no-show by the famed rock band, the few who waited like Christians waiting for the return of the Lord were rewarded when the famous Metal O, eventually showed up in the middle of the night to  belt out their tunes.

The small crowd seemed to enjoy every minutes of the show dubbed the 'Maun Summer Rock Festival' held at Ruth Khama hall on Friday night.

The Metal Orizon show was initially scheduled to start around 7pm but was  delayed for almost four hours as some of the bands scheduled to perform showed up at the event way  after 2200 hours.  For most part of the day a lot of the rock fanatics clad in their typical tight jeans and t-shirts bearing names of rock legends spanning from Metallica to Iron Maiden could not hide their uncertainty on whether the show will go on.

However when the show eventually started around 11pm, it was with a burst of joy and exuberance for the small but patient crowd of about 60 revellers.

First on the stage was Remuda, a Maun heavy metal rock band, which dished out four songs from their recently released self titled album, Remuda. Then followed another heavy Metal rock outfit called Skeletal Saints. It was the brilliance of Otshepheng Mokwevo, an 18-year-old Maun Senior Secondary School student, whose vocals and antics on the lead guitar seemed to send the revellers wild.

Judging by his performance it was difficult to believe that the young man only started playing electric guitar only last year. By the time Dust n Fire from Lethakane descended on stage, the small crowd had already gone berserk with joy.

Indeed Dust n Fire did not disappoint.

Then came the long awaited slot for the main act, Metal Orizon. They played songs from all their three albums that have undoubtedly catapulted the band into one of the celebrated rock bands in the country.  The We Are Rolling hit makers even did a rendition of Metallica's Nothing Else Metals which proved a hit with the crowd.
