Ngwaketse stars shine through the night

The place was a picnic spot near Motse Lodge Cultural village tucked between the hills on the northeastern side of the Bangwaketse capital where stars from the Southern District converged to welcome home one of their sons and Big Brother All Stars (BBAS) housemate, Kaone Ramontshonyana.

This was also a perfect setting for the fun-loving and carefree Ramontshonya to launch his Rural Swagga clothing line.  It was a star-studded event of over 20 musicians and celebrities.

Radio personalities Thobo 'Vivante' Tlhasana, Slyvester DJ Sly Ntshinogang, television and movie star, Joel 'Ntsoro' Keitumele were among those who graced the event.  There were also the likes of Vs, the hip-hop star who rose to prominence with his hit, O Icheke.  Jazz musician Shati-Lo was back home, too, much to the delight of his followers.  Former Miss Botswana Boingotlo Motlalekgosi, was also present.

The ever-stylish, Kgotla Kgaodi, of Matshidiso fame, had the fans whistling and shouting in excitement when he got on stage and once again his track Matshidiso proved a winner.

Youngsters, Madd Doggs, grabbed the opportunity to do their latest number, Foromane and so did jazz's new kid on the block Thabang whose mixture of jazz and Afro-pop announced his arrival on the big stage.   The large turnout and the general atmosphere excited Kaone, aka K1, on the night. 'I am really happy, this is not all about me, but the charity work that they are doing to help raise funds for our kgosi's coronation and to have it in my name was an honour,' he told Showtime. One of the organisers, Motlalekgosi also told Showtime that the event doubled as Ramontshonyana's Rural Swagga launch as well as a charity festival to raise funds for Kgosi Malope Gaseitsiwe's coronation and the completion of his grandfather's statue at Gaa Ramontshiwa.

'All the musicians are performing for free.  We wanted to do something for Kaone because he made Bangwaketse proud (during his time in the BBAS house) and we gave him the chance to launch his Rural Swagga label.  But above all we felt the talent coming from this area could benefit it if we came together for a common cause,' she said.
