Mzanzi comedy heavyweights to perform ar GICC tomorrow

It will be JR's first comedy show in Botswana. Tickets go for P300 and P500 for VIPs.

For the last eight years, a local company Katalyst Media presents the Kings of Comedy show, bringing to our shores some of the hottest comedians from Mzanzi to ever visit Botswana. The comedy superstar will be accompanied by exciting comedians in Roni Madimola, Tips Seemise, Ntosh Madlingozi and Botswana's own, Dignash.

Rasdien is not described as the epitome of South African comedy for nothing. He is a movie star, rapper, and comedian. Rasdien has also performed a lead role in a pilot for a Donovan Marsh movie. He was also a scriptwriter and performer on the hit comedy sketch show, The Pure Monate Show, on SABC 1. He was also host of his own game show, Go For It, on SABC 2. Rasdien also presented the popular live interactive game show, Play TV on SABC 3. As versatile as ever, Rasdien played second lead in the successful film, Dollars and White Pipes, an Anant Singh produced South African feature aired on M-Net.

He was also the lead actor in the John Barker produced short film, The Last Days of Anna Van Storm, to critical acclaim. His television shows also include, Laugh Out Loud, a prank show screened on M-Net. His companion, Madimola, is often described as a comedian who breaks boundaries, builds bridges, challenges prejudices and inverts stereotypes, will be here as well.

His quiet charm and his in your face poking fun of former holy cows, touches the funny bones of a variety of audiences locally and internationally. He is also described as a stand up comic who can cross cultural borders.

His loud staccato chuckle is infectious, yielding shouts of laughter wherever he performs, according to one website, which also adds that Madimola's comedy shows are abundant with philosophical musings / clever word play as he employs subtlety intelligently with his characterisations as well as witty dialogue that leaves the crowd whooping for more and rolling in the aisles as he paints portraits in their minds; portraits that would make Picasso green with envy, the website raves.

Ntobeko 'Ntosh' Madlingozi is best known as a judge on the SABC 1 reality competition talent show So You Think You're Funny! since 2008.

Madlingozi, who holds a BCom in marketing and a diploma in PC engineering, has performed at such comedy events as The Heavyweight Comedy Jam, the Blacks Only comedy showcase, the 99 percent Xhosa Comedy Show and Comedy 2008.

Also accompanying Rasdien on the night is the man known in South African comedy circles as TIPS, Thapelo Seemise, himself a product of Rasdien's comedy talent search programme on television.
