Lira at Bots Craft tonight

Lira will be sharing the stage with local artist, Tumediso 'Shanti-Lo' Loeto.

Shanti-Lo is one of the local artists who have proved themselves.  Shanti-Lo will not be intimidated by the Friday show because he is already used to the big stage.

He is also expected to exert himself during the show. In fact, Shanti-Lo rises to the occasion in shows like this one. Local artists have already proven that they can stand against their foreign counterparts.

With two albums under his belt, Shanti-Lo is one of the promising local artists. He is also working on releasing another album, which was supposed to be recorded in September.

During the Friday show, Shanti-Lo will regale the audience with his old songs and tracks from the forthcoming album.  Shanti-Lo has since gone under the management of Street Horn Promotions.

Oliver Groth of the Botswana Craft, said preparations are at an advanced stage for tomorrow's show.  He said tickets are selling well and is likely to be a sell-out concert.

Groth said they are expecting Lira today. She will do the sound check when she arrives.  He revealed that Lira would be performing with a live band.

Lira made it into music in 2000 when she was discovered by Arthur Mafokate of Kwaito fame. Mafokate assisted her to release her first album in 2003.

She then embarked on a solo career and the move paid dividends.  In 2006, she released her second album, Feel good, which took the South African music scene by storm.

Feel good became an instant success, elevating Lira to celebrity status.  She came up with two more albums, which also bagged awards.  Lira has now become a recognised name in the South African music world.

Botswana Craft was a popular this year.  The joint has hosted international acts like Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Ringo Madlingozi and Jimmy Dludlu.  Botswana Craft will be recalling Ringo again on December 17.

This is due to the fact that during his last performance, tickets were sold-out and many people missed the show.

Groth said they intended to bring more international artists next year.  However, he said, they would never forget the local artists.

A local artist, Banjo Mosele who has performed at the Botswana Craft on many occasions, said they appreciate the support that is extended to them.  Mosele said when they perform at Botswana Craft, they are not given a hard time when it comes to payments.
