GU offload four senior players

Club spokesperson Romeo Benjamin confirmed yesterday that they have made a decision to release the four players. He pointed out they had about 29 registered players and it was unprofitable to keep such a number. He explained that it did not make business sense to keep paying a large number of players when some were not adding value to the team. He added that competition is tough in the team and it would be unfair to keep them in the squad when chances of getting game time were slim. Another player, Victor Puoeng, is available for loan so that he can gain experience.

Maposa will be well remembered by GU supporters for his stunning individual effort against Mochudi Centre Chiefs in a game that confirmed GU as the 2008-2009 be MOBILE Premier League champions.

He has only made one appearance for GU this season. Phiri, who joined GU after falling out with his former club, Uniao Flamengo Santos, has been in and out of the team. He was facing tough competition in the central attacking midfield role against the likes of Tshepo 'Schoolboy' Molefe and Ntesang 'Mirror' Simanyana.

Modisaotsile was one of the regular members of the 2008-2009 winning squad but he has also been in and out of the team this season with Kaelo Kgaswane making the left back position literally his own. Branco Molokwane has also played well on several occasions in that position.

Mabogo was nearly offloaded at the start of the season together with Tiroyamodimo Mohambi who joined Extension Gunners. He however made a return to the team and played a couple of games this season. The former Chiefs' striker was facing stiff challenge upfront from the likes of Ronald Chikomo and Sageby Sandaka
