AFCON prospects stays Tshosane's hand

The coach said he has had a number of offers from South African clubs but his heart's desire is to take the Zebras to the Promised Land - Equatorial Guinea and Gabon in 2012.

The former BDF XI tactician is on the verge of making history by becoming the first coach to take the team to the prestigious competition.

The Zebras sit comfortably at the apex of Group K of the qualifiers after winning four games and drawing one to virtually secure passage to the tournament.

The rare feat has not gone unnoticed as a number of clubs in South Africa have repeatedly made inquiries about Tshosane's availability. 'When I signed my contract with BFA, I set out to achieve certain things and one of them is to take the Zebras to the AFCON. I would not have done justice to myself if I quit along the way. I have to go all the way,' said Tshosane. He stated that he will only make a decision after his contract runs out in March 2012, a month after the AFCON finals.

'I believe it is very important to honour a contractual agreement - that is integrity.

So I would really love to finish the campaign and possibly go with the team to the finals. I will only make a decision after the expiry of my contract,' he said.

Since the beginning of the qualifying campaign, the Zebras have been on a consistent rise after going five games unbeaten.

They accounted for big guns like Tunisia and Togo. The good run has seen the Zebras make an unprecedented rise in the FIFA rankings to 53rd spot.
