Indiscipline at Tonota FC worries Tamirepi

Tamirepi told Mmegi Sport that players skip training sessions without valid reasons. He said the team could be placed higher than its current fifth spot. Tonota FC has won four, lost two and drew five games this season.  The former TAFIC and BMC coach is worried about the players' attitude towards training. He said each day, he receives different excuses from the players who miss training.

'They do not keep time and the reasons I receive are always not valid. I am really struggling with this because it affects my plans. I have never seen something like this before at my previous clubs,' Tamirepi said. The coach said he is discussing the issue with the management. 'The Premier League was much better than in the lower division. There is a world of difference between the two leagues. I am really working on this with the club management. I am happy because we are working hand in hand with the management which is so supportive,' he said.

Because of the situation at the club, Tamirepi said he is forced to use the same players with very limited options.

The club intends to hold trials during the transfer window in January to get more players. Tamirepi said at times, he is forced to use players who are not match fit because they rarely attend training sessions. The coach joined Tonota FC after the side was promoted from the Second Division last season.

Tonota FC spokesperson, Tshepho Gaopatwe said at times, they are forced to travel with only 12 players for their matches. He said he received a report that some players were out injured while others give an excuse that they are attending weddings and other weekend activities.

'The management was unaware of the problems the coach is facing until I noticed it last weekend when we played in Maun,' Gaopatwe said.
