Two Molepolole North councillors defect to BMD

In an interview with Mmegi on Friday, Mmualefhe, a veteran BDP activist and prominent councillor of Boribamo West said he resigned from the ruling party because he realised it has changed and is no longer as democratic as it was set out to be.

Keipeile, a former trade unionist also reiterated similar sentiments, adding that 'We have realised that the BDP has changed. It is now the BDP for A-Team faction only, whilst those of us who belong to the Barata-Phathi faction are being sidelined, treated like non-BDP members. We have gone to our party, the BMD where we belong and know we cannot be sidelined,' he said. The defections have left the BDP with seven out of the nine councillors in Molepolole North as two of them are now BMD.

Speaking to Mmegi yesterday, BMD interim executive committee member responsible for mobilisation Kabo Morwaeng said more BDP councilors are getting ready to take flight to the new party.

'It looks like we will get more councillors in Molepolole,' he said.
