BMC postpone AGM

The meeting was expected to be a heated affair with the appointment of coach, Kaizer Kalambo being the focal point.

Club spokesperson, Themba Stimela told Mmegi Sport in Lobatse on Sunday that management decided to shift the date in order to give supporters a chance to prepare for the AGM.

'The supporters' committee came to us on Saturday requesting that the AGM be postponed because there were some issues that they had to discuss with the other supporters before they could present (their report) at the AGM. The supporters form a very important part of the club and just like we would want them to listen to any of our requests at some stage it was equally important that we allow them the chance to go and prepare,' Stimela said.

'This will also help us as the management to prepare our reports well. The mother company (BMC) had requested for an audited financial report and we would be able to do that before the AGM and present the same report to the meeting,' he said.

The appointment of Kalambo as head coach was expected to be the subject of discussion at the meeting. Some supporters of the club were reportedly against his appointment.

On Saturday assistant coach Enos Mmesi sat on the bench in the team's 1-0 win over cross town rivals, Extension Gunners was Kalambo ill.

'Kalambo has not been well and two weeks ago he was rushed from Otse Police College to Athlone Hospital in Lobatse after he fell seriously sick during our friendly game with Police XI but was later transferred to Princess Marina in Gaborone. He had been bed-ridden but was released last week.

He had wanted to start training but we told him not to rush because we trusted Mmesi would do the job and prepare the team in his absence.

That is why we appointed him as assistant coach anyway. But we are positive that Kalambo will be fine soon because we understand how badly he wanted to lead the team from the very first game,' he said.
