Mass exodus looms at Rollers

It is understood that at least three key players have written to the club asking to be released. Rollers may have to do without their skipper Joel Mogorosi, Onalethata Tshekiso and Edwin Olerile as the trio is said to have indicated they want out of the club.

Malawian midfielder, Lawrence Majawa left for his native country late last week saying he was unhappy at the club. The combative linkman extended his contract with the club at the end of last season.

A visibly discontented Majawa said he was leaving for his homeland and he was unsure when he will return. 'I have to go back home and check on my wife who is not feeling well. I'm not sure when I'll be back,' he said.

However, a Rollers' teammate said Majawa indicated that he is might not return. 'He is clearly not happy; you can tell by the way he conducts himself at training. He has gone back to Malawi but it is still not clear whether he will come back or not,' said the player.

Interestingly, Mogorosi, who is currently away on national duty in Malawi, recently wrote on his Facebook page that 'now I see why it is so easy for a player to move to another club' indicating he may be on his way out. The player's contract is reportedly ending in three months. It is understood he wants to join Mochudi Centre Chiefs while Tshekiso wants to move to GU. Although it is not clear whether Tshekiso still has a running contract at Rollers, a source at the club revealed that he is as good as a free agent. 'OT is as good as a free agent and he has indicated that he wants to join GU next season. He wrote a letter to the club, so did Joel and Edwin Olerile,' said a member of the Rollers' management.

The source added that Olerile may not be released as he is left with over a year on his contract.

Popa have already lost last season's top scorer, Terrence Mandaza to South Africa's Platinum Stars. Edwin Moalosi and defender Itayi Gwandu have also parted ways with the club. Gwandu reunites with coach Rahman Gumbo at Chiefs while Moalosi has gone to the United States of America to further his studies.

Rollers' players are said to be unhappy after the club failed to pay them bonuses for winning the league and cup double. The club's managing director, Somerset Gobuiwang was dismissive when contacted for comment. 'You can go and clarify where you always clarify,' he snapped.
