Gumbo in line for Warriors job?

The association has run advertisements in the Zimbabwean media inviting applications for the post. Gumbo, winner of the be MOBILE League title with Township Rollers last season, said he is aware of ZIFA's interest although they have not yet communicated with him officially.

Sources close to the coach revealed that ZIFA technical director, Nelson Matongorere asked Gumbo to apply for the post late last week, signalling that the association has earmarked him for the job. The new coach will take over from Sunday Chidzambwa. 'It is only a rumour that ZIFA are interested in my services because nothing has been communicated to me officially.

So I would not want to comment at this stage,' he told Mmegi Sport. He did not want to say whether he is interested in the post or not. The Warriors are currently under caretaker coach, Norman Mapeza, who took over after Sunday Chidzambwa resigned in May and moved to South Africa where he is now in charge of Premiership side, Free State Stars. Mapeza dented his chances of getting the job on a permanent basis when his charges lost 2-0 to the Zebras last week.
