Mingo plots return to the top

Mingo shot to instant fame soon after he was snapped up by Vee wa Mampela who quickly struck gold with the youngster's debut album. However, Mingo's efforts to release his own album in 2008 were not so successful. It had been a rocky road until recently when the singer and dancer signed up with Dargie Digital Studios for an album that is set to be released at the end of this month.  Mingo's album, Aminon, is currently enjoying airplay on radio and its fabulous video is playing on Botswana Television (Btv) almost every day.

An excited Mingo, real name Aminon Mojokeri, told Showbiz this week that he is sure his career is on course.  'I have signed with a record company, which is very strong on distribution and marketing; they have already released material for TV and radio; I really feel I am with the right people right now,' said Mingo.  The youngster says his new album features the likes of Juju Boy, Vee, and Naisy boy.

He says he has already started promoting the album in primary and secondary schools where he is also fund-raising for disadvantaged pupils.  'These are charity shows, we are not getting any Pula from these shows, all the funds raised go towards providing for these pupils,' Mingo added.  Towards the end of last year, Mingo had a brush with death, after surviving multiple stab wounds on the face and back after an  attack on him by gangsters near Zola (Old Naledi).  The incident resulted in one of his rising star rappers was killed
