Modelling Agency MQMA To Launch Website

MQMA deals with event management and organisation, fashion shows, promotions and also hires out models for promotional purposes. The website will have a contacts and locations page, a page displaying MQMA models and their profiles, and a page showing the different services MQMA offers.

Kolobe said she decided to launch a website as the Internet is one of the most effective channels of communication. She said that a lot of people in Botswana do not know that agencies such as hers exist but through the net they can get to learn about them. 'People around the world can also access these sites and learn about businesses run by Batswana,' she said.

Kolobe said her passion for modelling began during her primary school years. 'I used to enter pageants and emerge victorious,' she said proudly. Kolobe however said she stopped competing after completing her secondary school education.

Nonetheless, she continued her passion by becoming an organiser of multiple mini fashion shows. Kolobe, however, says she stopped pursuing her passion along the way because she had taken up a normal eight-hour job. 'I never got to really settle down in my job and I was always depressed because I was doing something I didn't like,' she said. Kolobe said she decided to sponsor herself at Pro-Models Modelling Agency, which groomed people to become professional models and model trainers. The school has since ceased operations.

Late 2006 Kolobe said she left her job to kick start her own business MQMA, and the rest is history, as they would say. She said it has not been an easy road. 'I have not even reached the level that I would love to see myself,' she said. She said she aspires to do a lot for her country. 'One day, I would like to see Botswana shine in the international arena with well-groomed models,' she said.

Kolobe urged aspiring models to work hard and be patient. She said the problem with most models is they picture themselves wealthy and in the limelight before even lifting a finger to achieve that. 'At MQMA we teach our models that money and fame don't come easy, but you need to work tirelessly to earn them,' she said.

Kolobe also urged parents to support their children if they want to join pageants. 'School is important but nowadays we cannot sideline talent because that may be what will put food on their tables in future,' she said. She said modelling also prevents children from engaging in negative things like drinking and smoking as it gives them an alternative source of leisure.

Recent events that Kolobe has participated in include the Miss Universe Botswana pageant and the Amazing Works Charity Organisation pageant and proceeds handover.  She was also the choreographer and one of the judges for the beauty scene in the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency movie. Kolobe has also worked in numerous projects with Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL), Lapologa Magazine, and the Echo newspaper.  She is currently part of a growing local website

www.botswanarhythyms.com) that promotes Botswana artists. Her models are also being used for advertisements in Kutlwano Magazine. Meanwhile, local artists are expected to perform at the unveiling of the website on August 28. There will also be mini-fashion show featuring Kolobe's models. The website address for MQMA is www.madamqueen.co.bw.
