Zim Burglary Suspects Nabbed In Nkoyaphiri

Their mission was to break into people's houses and steal. If they had been successful before, last Thursday night turned out to be their unlucky day.

At around 1 am, a security alarm bell rang and alerted the security personnel to a house in Block Seven where upon arrival they found a burglary taking place.

The owner informed them that his laptop was stolen. Upon tracking the footprints of the suspects, another break-in was reported in the neighbourhood where the owner said he woke up to find lights on in his house. Upon checking, he found his laptop missing. The thieves had derailed his electric gate and gained access into his yard.

The determination of the personnel from  the Security Services company led them to Nkoyaphiri where they found Ncube and Zulu in a house, where they had been accommodated by a friend. Mosupi Mogodi led the patrol team.

When the suspects were questioned, they confessed that they were responsible for the two break-ins in Block Seven. Further investigations revealed that they had also broken into houses of two doctors at Bokamoso Private Hospital. In one house, they stole two Toshiba laptops, three cellphones and P1,500 in cash.

In the other house they stole an iPhone, a Nokia cellphone and a debit card. A security officer at Bokamoso Private Hospital said it was not the first time that one of the houses at the facility was broken into.

'In May, one doctor lost two laptops after his house was broken into,' he explained. Walter Leave, a senior supervisor at Security Services said that when questioned the suspects informed them that they had hidden their loot somewhere in Mogoditshane. All the stolen property was recovered except for one laptop, which the suspects said had already found its way to Zimbabwe. The P1,500 cash was used as transport money by one of their colleagues.

The suspects admitted that it was a matter of time before the other loot was taken to Zimbabwe, only that they are still hunting for money for transport. The suspects were handed over to the police for further investigations.
