Maposa to decide on his future

In an exclusive interview with Sport Monitor on Saturday afternoon, Maposa said that when he returns from Malawi (for the 2012 AFCON qualifier) next week, he would have decided where his future lies. He hinted that locally, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Gaborone United (GU) have shown great interest in acquiring his services. In South Africa, First Division sides Dynamos and Bay United are also involved in talks with the 25 year-old goalkeeper.

'There have been lots of false reports in the media here about where I'm heading but I've decided to keep quiet. At the moment, I'm weighing options and I'll definitely settle for a team which would come with a better offer,' he told Sport Monitor. Maposa who cut his team at Chiefs almost 10 years ago refused to disclose which team would get first option when deciding on his future. 'Chiefs gave me the platform to be what I am today and I'll be grateful of that. But people must understand that football is business and if one team comes with a tempting offer, I'll definitely consider it,' he continued.

Recently, Chiefs communications manager Clifford Mogomotsi said that his side would like to retain the services of the fast-improving goalkeeper but said that Maposa seems to be contemplating to return to South Africa.

Maposa played for Bay United last season on loan from Chiefs and had to stay for four months without kicking football after their spell ended. 'I must say that I've learnt a lot during my time at Bay United because it was the first time I played in professional set-up,' pointed out Maposa.

On the national team, Maposa said that he will patiently wait for his chance to come. Contrary to what most people have been saying, Maposa pointed out that he has good relationship with first-choice goalkeeper Modiri Marumo. 'Honestly, to play under a person like Marumo is wonderful and I've to admit that I'm learning everyday from him. He even gets advise from me, something which is unheard of considering the experience he has,' he said. Maposa told Sport Monitor that even national team coach Stanley Tshosane is happy with their working relationship.

'The good thing about me is that when I joined the senior team (from Under-23), I didn't come with a big head because I was the first-choice with the Young Zebras. What encouraged me most is that Stan (Tshosane) told me that my chance would come,' he said.
