“My pregnancy was not easy. I didn’t know I was pregnant till I finished my Form 5. When you fall pregnant, your youth, your body will not fully develop. Your dignity is also dragged through the mud. It is also not easy to concentrate at school when you are pregnant that is why I failed my Form 5 because I could not concentrate at school,” she said.

Senabjwe added that after realising that she was pregnant, she could not do things her peers did.

As if that was not enough, she said she had complications during her pregnancy and as a result her son had brain damage. She explained that she was told that her son had brain damage because the oxygen could not pass through the brain and her son had allergies.

She added that life was not easy, as she could not re-write her examinations because her son needed special care.

Senabjwe noted that because of her son’s complications, she was forced to look for a job and therefore found a job at Pep Store. She said she was constantly depressed because she did not have time for herself.

“Raising a child with disabilities alone is not easy. I had to take my son to a speech therapy and the best schools. With all those going on, I decided to do self-introspection. I know that most of the times things happen to us, it might be because we miss love from our families.

That does not give you the right to go out with blessers or sugar daddies. Do not be tempted by them. If they say they love you, they would be lying. Don’t listen to them,” she advised.

Senabjwe said girls’ bodies were their individual temples and advised them to package themselves well. She explained that women who do not dress well were less likely to be married. She advised the girls to start taking care of their bodies.

She further said she used to smoke both cigarettes and dagga and drink alcohol only to find out that there was no happiness in that. She said the girls would never find peace in drug and alcohol abuses.

“Listen to your parents, teachers and abide by the Lord. Your teachers find diamonds in you. When they tell you to stop doing something, it’s out of love. I know feeling unloved will make you vulnerable. Itseye tsia o le ngwana wa mosetsana. You look like a peacock to me. Preserve your virginity. It’s a woman’s source of strength and dignity,” she said.
