Amongst the new industry advisors are radio expert, David Moepeng of AFSTERO Botswana, famous photographer, Ulf Nermark of Botswana Society for the Arts, marketing and advertising specialist, Toderai Tsara of Dialogue Group and Tebogo Modisagape of Val Interiors.

Limkokwing views industry advisors as contributing greatly to the university’s mission of training industry-relevant and ready graduates who can migrate seamlessly into the industry of choice and play an important role as mentors to students in Limkokwing Entrepreneurship Acceleration Platform (LEAP).

Speaking at the induction ceremony, pioneer industry advisor and Consult IT director of business development, Pontsho Pusoetsile, who started serving on the Board in 2009, urged the new members to embrace their roles and be proactive in advising the university of key trends in various industries and professions, by reviewing and assessing the industry relevance of programme curriculum within the university.

He stated that they will all benefit from their roles, which will take them back to school and allow them to further enrich their knowledge while contributing to the institution and country at large. The induction ceremony programme included a tour of the students’ work exhibition, campus ecosystem tour with visits to the specialised labs and studios as well as interaction with management and faculty staff.

Head of public relations, Mercy Thebe highlighted that Limkokwing University, with branches in Malaysia, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and Sierra Leone, is industry-led with a strategy to link industry and government to the university as channels for students to work on actual industry or government projects.

“The LEAP programme allows industry projects to be brought on campus and injected into the teaching curriculum. We have coined the word INDUSITY, combining the words, Industry and University, to describe this innovative approach to education.

The university is currently collaborating with global, international, regional and local partners like Nestle, L’Oreal, Samsung, Sony-Erickson, Mascom, Cancer Association of Botswana, and Botswana Society for the Arts in various projects and partnerships.

This is one of the key reasons why our students are the most sought-after graduates in countries like Malaysia, Botswana, Cambodia, Britain, Indonesia and others because with their industry training, our graduates can move into actual employment with ease and confidence with the guidance and contribution by Industry Advisors,” she said. Limkokwing continues to attract active, vibrant and smart generations who are industry and future ready and trained to think beyond employability upon graduation.
